Fun with Learning games

1. States/Countries and Capitals
Let the kids choose a state and learn the capital, then quiz them at dinner. (Keep a running list so you know the answers as well!) When they get all the states on the list right, they can choose another state to add.

2.words jar - Cutout the words from newspapers or magazine and keep them in a jar
  Ask kid to pick one and create a proper sentence with this word.This word can come anywhere in a sentence

3. Discussion diary - for some time, parent and child to communicate through eriting in this notebook only(can be done twice in a week in relaxed time ) 

4.Easy Reading Aloud - read the favourite story book and voice record the message.And make him listen and ask for his opinion

5. Spy the word using pocket dictionary and encourage kid to use the newly found word in future conversations

Family time games

1.Thorns and Roses game 

Go around the table and ask each person to share the rose (the best or most special part of their day), and the thorn (the most difficult part of their day). 

2.THE HAT GAME

Before dinner, have each dinner guest write their answers to one or more of the following questions on slips of paper and place them in a hat. At dinnertime, the host reads the answers aloud, and everyone tries to guess which guest gave which answers!

• What character in a children’s book did you most identify with as a child?
• What was your favorite toy as a child?
• What do you feel most grateful for?
• What do you love most about being a part of this (or your) family?

3. CAT and COW

One person at the table is the “leader.” The leader says either “Cat” or “Cow.” When the leader says “Cat,” the others meow. When the leader says “Cow,” the others moo. Keep saying “Cat” and “Cow,” faster and faster, switching back and forth and making the pattern more and more random until somebody “moos” when they should have “meowed” or “meows” when they should have “mooed!”

Keep a Family Joke Jar handy for nights when the dinner table could use some humor! Let each member of the family write favorite jokes on slips of paper and put them into an empty mason jar, jelly jar or can. When you think a good joke or two might lift everyone’s spirits, bring the jar to the table and take turns drawing slips and telling the jokes.

5.20 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT

Come up with a topic together – or put some ideas in a jar and pull out one randomly. Examples include a season or a person or place, or anything really! Then go around the table and have everyone name something silly or serious they love about that season or person or place until you have twenty items. Make sure to write everything down 

6.GUESS WHO?

 Everyone thinks of a person, place or thing that needs help. On a piece of paper, write down 5 ways to help that person, place or thing. Have the rest of the table guess what person, place or thing you are helping by sharing just those 5 ways of helping on your list!

7.STORY STARTERS

Write several words on slips of paper and put them in a box. Have each person at the table choose a word from the box. These words are now your “Story Starters”- Everyone at the table has to help make up a story using all the words that were chosen!

8.TWO TRUTHS & A TALL TALE

Ask everyone at the table to say three things about themselves: two true things and one thing that’s made up. The rest of the table will guess which is the tall tale.

Truth will always triumph; however before that, lies will have their dance. Just wait and watch!

3. Tiger and goat
     Kids should form a circle holding their hands,
     goat will be inside the circle and tiger will be outside
     other kids should not allow tiger to enter and  help goat to escape if tiger comes in
4. Tap the shoe
    How do you play this game?

All players stand in a broad circle and try to tap on the shoes of the person standing next to them.
The rule is that they cannot leave their spot while tapping and also cannot touch another person with any other body part.
Once tapped, that player has to leave the circle so eventually we are left with two people, one out of which wins!

5. Fit the line

Trying to teach your child to stand straight in a line? Play this outdoor game and teach you child that. Plus, have fun!

So, how do you play this game?

Using chalk on concrete or with a stick on sand, draw a line of 2 metres in length.
Children have to wait huddled together in one designated corner till the line is drawn and the whistle is blown.
Once the whistle is blown, the children have run and fit themselves on the line—like a queue.
Those who are unable to fit on the line are out.
The line keeps getting shorter after each round and players keep getting eliminated till one of them remains and he/she is the winner.

6. Group into a number
In a large play area, players move around in a circle.
One leader is chosen—ideally an unbiased adult.
As the players move in a circle, the leader suddenly says a number.
The players have to group themselves in that number and all the extras are out.
As the games progresses, more and more players are eliminated and one winner remains.

9. Marble game
Draw a small circle on the ground you’ve chosen to play in.
Place the marbles inside the circle, near the centre to form  the pattern ‘X.’
The idea is to shoot these marbles in the centre with a marble in your hand. Shooting is done by flicking the marble using your thumb and knuckles.
The number of marbles in the ‘X’ pattern that move when you throw a marble at them, are yours.
If any of the marbles moves out of the circle, then you lose a point. You have to place a marble back at the centre.
Taking turns, the game continues till there are no more marbles to win.

10. Stand in a circle and other team need to hit people inside the circle with ball, under the knees

11. Tell a story, when a particular predefined word comes (ex: Mother), other people should run and person who told the story should catch them

     Form a close circle and keep everyone's right leg together,
     Say KINGS and step backward 3 times
     Denner should target a person and step/jump 3 time forward and need to touch the feet of
     one team member.
     If touches, that person is out and now he can target other team member.
     If denner couldn't tap that person's feet, they denner should choose any one of the team as denner.
     And continues till one person is left, and they are the winner :-)
